Here's the hallway before...I think it's obvious why the carpet had to go:

Carpet up, walls primed, trim mostly painted:

The lovely people who originally painted this decided to use a thick paint over old lead paint without priming. Luckily, Jess has an unnatural obsession with scraping.

There were 5 doorways to scrape :(

But they turned out good!

Jess hard at work! We thought ripping up the carpet would take maybe an hour or so. Yeah right. Getting out the 968 staples from the carpet & removing the "death strips" (bottom right) was horrible. I got some great blisters on my hand. This is also a shot of the stripped banister, which was voted one of the worst, messiest & fumey jobs of all:

Has to look worse before it looks better! Trying to keep it close to what it originally was 129 years ago minus the dirt & scuffs.
